Philipp Wolf was originally a jeweler and silversmith in Hanau, a city located in the heart of Germany’s silversmithing industry, and made all kinds of silver items, including jewelry and cutlery.

He began making boxes so that he could display his pieces elegantly, simply believing that they would be shown to better advantage that way. He continued like this for a while, until he realized that he had discovered something that had never been done before. This is how, many years ago, the tradition of box making began.

Very quickly, he gave up his work as a goldsmith to devote himself to making refined boxes for his fellow craftsmen. Since 1834, the WOLF brand has been synonymous with decades of innovation and the pursuit of perfection in design.
